16 to 19 Tuition Small Group Funding

How the College will use the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund to provide extra small group tuition:

The college is providing extra small group tuition to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus. The funds will support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted.

The students who are eligible are those who had not achieved grade 5 or above in at least one of GCSE English or maths by age 16.

We will provide small group tuition to qualifying students in subjects other than Maths and English where appropriate.

We will prioritise support for students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths. However, further to those students, we will also provide catch up support to any young people with a grade 4 where it is needed.

We will prioritise students that will benefit most from small group tuition, based on the criteria above. We will also have regard to the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly where they have experienced additional disruption to learning as a result of their specific needs and disabilities.

The small group tuition provision will be extra to the programmes of education that had initially been planned for 2020 to 2021 and will utilise a mix of both teaching and learning support staff.

The number of students in a group will normally be up to three, but may be up to five students, because this is likely to deliver the greatest impact.
