A Level

The Academic Excellence Pathway is designed to improve our students’ chances of securing places on the most competitive university courses. It is also an opportunity for students with very good GCSE grades to stretch themselves further and develop their study skills by researching an Extended Project in a topic of interest.



Physical Education is an ideal course for those who wish to develop their understanding of key issues within sport. You will study in detail anatomy & physiology, and the impact of exercise on the body systems. You will study the psychology of sports performance and how performers acquire and develop skills within sports.


LEVEL 2, Certificate , Apprenticeship

This award aims to provide the skills and knowledge required to work in leisure centres, coaching clubs, sports halls, swimming pools and stadia.

Sport BTEC LEVEL 2 Partnership


This practical football-focused programme will provide you with the opportunity to play regular football and gain a Level 2 BTEC qualification (equivalent to a GCSE) in just one year. It offers a range of opportunities to sample multi-sports, practically as well as theoretically.

Sport BTEC Level 3 Diploma

BTEC Level 3 Diploma

The BTEC in Sport is a two year course equivalent to 3 A Levels. The course is assessed through a range of coursework and externally examined units. The course will provide you with a range of opportunities to sample a wide range of specialist areas within sport and develop a range of academic and practical skills that will help you to progress into a career in the sports, health and fitness industry.

Sports Development, Coaching & Fitness – Level 3

BTEC Level 3

The course is taught at Cheadle College with frequent visits to the Ethiad Campus. Manchester City FC coaches will deliver the football coaching and outstanding teachers the BTEC course.

This apprenticeship meets the needs of employers and provides a vocational pathway into the provision of Children’s Physical Activity and School Sport delivery and development. It will enable you to meet the demand for suitably qualified people with the knowledge, understanding and competency to deliver, plan, organise and assess the learning of children in a range of environments including the community and schools.
