Art and Design Level 3

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

The BTEC in Art and Design is a two year art course equivalent to 3 A Levels. The course will provide you with a range of opportunities to sample a wide range of specialist areas and produce a portfolio that will help you to progress onto study at Higher Education or employment.

During the first year, projects will cover painting and drawing, graphics/illustration, printing and contextual studies. In the second year you will have the opportunity to experiment with photography and animation as well as traditional materials and techniques

More than just a course

Each project starts from a real-life scenario/brief which gives the students real insight into what it is like to work in the art and design industry. One project gives students the unique opportunity to work collaboratively to produce an art-based ‘zine’ and exhibit their final work to the public in Manchester City Centre. Students will also complete one week’s work experience as part of the vocational programme. Placements will be found in each individuals’ area of interest.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 5 grades 4-9 GCSE. including English language and/or Maths at a minimum of level 4.

If you have studied Art before you could bring and show your portfolio.
