Applied Science – Level 2 Extended Certificate
BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate
This one year course offers students the chance to build their understanding of Science to access level three qualifications. Students would complete GCSE Mathematics and English Language alongside this program if they obtain a 3 or below at GCSE.
The BTEC level 2 Extended Diploma in Applied Science includes a range of practical laboratory experience and academic study. To assist students in their studies and understanding of science in the wider world, this course includes talks from industry professionals and visits to places of scientific interest and industry.

More than just a course
Students will be assessed by a series of assignments and will be expected to work independently. They will receive a wealth of formative feedback in preparation for assessments to ensure the highest possible quality of work.
In life you get out what you put in, and BTEC Applied Science is a prime example of this – if you put in the hard work you will be rewarded with high grades that can take you where you want to go.
This course is split into core and optional units, two of which are assessed by external exam. Students must complete a total of 12 units for the qualification.

This is a level 2 qualification
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3.
You will need a keen interest in Science and be willing to develop your learning skills.
